Francesco Atschko o Franco Asco was an extraordinary technician and master of the craft knew all the technological properties of materials such as clay, terracotta, metal, plaster, using them with skill and relevance. The sculpture proposed here, in white marble, deep and powerful, extremely figurative, is trasformed into a language of immediate understanding. Initially called "Beethoven or Symphony" it was renamed to "Krautzer Sonata". It was presented by the artist at the Hotel Esplanada along with 18 other works, in bronze, silver, marble and wax in 1947.
A sculptor who constantly studies, he said:" Study is for me, art, to produce. I study where i am withouth preferences of enviroment, or subject: then i face the block of marble, sometimes i am not satisfied with my work, then i do not like to correct, redo or, as they say, "repair", i destroy it"----------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Franco Asco; in Fanfulla San Paolo -Gino Restelli, venerdì 5 Dicembre 1947)
